ENG 101 Critical Writing, Discussion and Debate

With English Language competence central to successful communication in academic and professional contexts, this course aims to enhance students’ English language capabilities by developing their critical language comprehension and output abilities. On completion of this course students will: understand and engage in English language communications using the core receptive and productive language skills; gain awareness of academic styles and forms in texts; understand the processes of building logical discourse; and be able to plan, write and communicate critical academic work.

Through the development of sophisticated English language and communication competencies, this course enables students to interact effectively and thrive in academic study and professional contexts. This course aims to build and expand upon students' language and communication skills in relevant and challenging areas from scientific research writing through to critical discussion, debate and presentations.
