ErSE 317 Geo-Environmental Modeling & Analysis

This course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of geospatial modeling and analysis techniques in the context of geo-environmental science, with a focus on remote sensing, hydrological modeling, climate change, and sustainable water management. Students will learn best practices for coding and geospatial data processing and analysis, including how to use software tools such as Python and open-source geospatial libraries. The course will cover techniques for monitoring and mapping land use, vegetation cover, and surface water resources using remote sensing data. Students will also learn how to apply hydro logical models to simulate and analyze the movement of water through different parts of the Earth system. Additionally, the course will explore the impacts of climate change on water resource availability and the role of human activities in water use and management. Through hands-on projects and assignments, students will gain practical skills in geospatial modeling and analysis that are relevant to a variety of environmental resource management applications.
