Academic Semesters and Sessions
KAUST offers two semesters and two sessions. The two semesters include the fall semester, 15 weeks from August/September to December, and the spring semester, 15 weeks from January/February to May/June.
The two sessions include the summer session, eight weeks from June to August, and the winter session, two weeks from January to February.
Each regularly scheduled course, including research registration, has a credit value of 3 credits, for 3 contact hours per week in the fall and spring semesters, and 6 contact hours per week in the summer session.
Regular classes are scheduled during the fall and spring semesters and the summer session. The winter session is primarily reserved for the Winter Enrichment Program (WEP).
