MarS 336 Biogeography
Biogeographic regions. Chorological categories. The great American biotic interchange. The Messinian crisis. Island biogeography and the unique features of island biota. Generalized model for the oceanic islands. Terranes. Main difference between terrestrial and marine biogeography. Deep sea and coastal shelf biogeography (temperate and tropical seas). As a block course, the course will meet daily and intensively. Students are expected to be available at any time and on short notice during the block period.
