This course introduces principles and applications of different laboratory techniques used in chemistry, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering laboratories, as well as in the industry. It covers following aspects: safety and use of basic laboratory equipment; acid-base titration; surfactants and critical micelle concentration; separation techniques; imaging samples with Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM); Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR); Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC); polymers, hydrogels and their characterization; mechanical properties of materials; introduction and design in 3D printing; introduction to fluid mechanics, flow rate measurements and microfluidics.
